"TELEFÓNICA" MAKE UP MILES AND MOVE INTO SECOND PLACE

02-25-2012

At 13:00 UTC “Telefónica” surprised everyone by making up mileage and moving into second place, just 50 miles astern of "Camper with Emirates Team New Zealand". The Spanish boat's comeback was confirmed by the latest position report through and as well as holding second place in the fleet, the boat has also managed to scrape another three miles closer to the provisional leg leader, "Camper with Emirates Team New Zealand".

The fleet continues to gain East where they are expecting the trade winds to move in and with this new situation "Telefónica" is positioned furthest South in the fleet next to "Camper with Emirates Team New Zealand".

However, the fleet continues with an eye on the North where American entry "Puma" is devouring miles at dizzying speeds. Meanwhile, "Telefónica" remains the fastest boat in the group, with 17 knot average speeds.
