It's already clear, despite the fact that they haven't left Lanzarote yet, that Marina Rubicón will always be close to the hearts of Team Telefónica.
On Saturday it was made crystal clear. The entire team, their families, the staff at Marina Rubicón and from Bar ONE got together for a farewell barbecue with a few surprises to boot. Marina Rubicón kicked them off with a specially prepared "survival kit" for everything you might need for a voyage around the world, including a T-shirt as a souvenir of Team Telefónica's journey through every corner of Lanzarote.
There was also a present for Bar ONE: a sail signed by every member of Team Telefónica. It will be hung on a wall from now on, in a place we've always felt at home in and will be a reminder of our time in Lanzarote.
For Marina Rubicón, a replica of the bow of the "Telefónica", also signed by everyone on the Team, thanking them for their kindness, generosity and all of the help that they gave us during all of this time we've been at their marina, which is perfect for sailors.
It is here that an important part of the training for this young but experienced team has been carried out. More importantly, a team who'll be doing everything to be the team to raise the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 winner's trophy in Galway, Ireland on the seventh of July 2012.
To all of those who've shared these past three months with us at Marina Rubicón: Thank you!
